Softstage for Windows

Softstage reads the image files that you select or drop into the app and creates compositions on your device. The app does not upload selected images to Softstage and does not use accounts, analytics, or telemetry.

Your original images stay in place. Softstage saves the finished PNG beside the first selected image. During export, it may create a temporary file in that folder. The app removes the file after a handled failure, but a system crash may leave it behind.

The app saves composition preferences only when you choose Save preferences. It stores those settings on your device at %LOCALAPPDATA%\Backdrop\settings.json. The app does not send them to Softstage.

Website and cookies

Softstage does not use cookies or browser storage for analytics or advertising, and the website has no analytics or advertising tags. The site links to external services, including GitHub, LinkedIn, and Tolani's website. Those services handle visits under their own privacy policies.

Vercel hosts the Softstage website and processes technical request data, such as IP addresses and user-agent details, to deliver and protect the service. Vercel may process data outside Nigeria. Its privacy notice and data processing addendum describe its handling. Runtime-log retention depends on the Vercel plan and service. Delivery and security logs may have separate retention periods. See Vercel's runtime log documentation.

Messages and retention

If you email Tolani, the message is used to answer your question or request and to keep any records required by law. It is kept only as long as needed for those purposes and legal obligations. The email provider may process and retain messages under its own policies. Include only information needed to answer your request.

Your choices and rights

You can stop using the app and remove its local settings or output files yourself. The app does not receive or control copies that you save. Privacy rights depend on where you live. For a privacy question or request, email fagbenjatolani@gmail.com.

Changes

This notice is effective from 12 October 2026. It will be updated if Softstage's data practices change.
